Patients who are apprehensive about receiving dental treatment often avoid going to the dentist. Ultimately, this avoidance can lead to advanced disease and the need for expensive treatments that could have been avoided.
Sleep Dentistry provides a safe, effective way to alleviate dental anxiety and provide patients with the treatment they need.
How it Works?
Sleep Dentistry makes use of a prescription medication that induces a drowsy, relaxed feeling. This is a medication administered orally or intravenously (IV). Due to the relaxing effects of the medication, patients must have a friend or family member bring them to the dental office and return them home.
During Sleep Dentistry, patient's vital signs are monitored. Although patients are not completely unconscious, many patients sleep through their dental appointment. Few patients have any memory of their treatment.
What is IV Sedation?
Intravenous sedation is offered to the anxious, the fearful or the very young patient. It is a management technique that uses medications to assist the patient to cope with fear and anxiety.

From Taconic: get off at Yorktown Heights (Underhill Ave & Croton-on-Hudson Exit), if coming from North, make left off exit, if coming from South, make right off exit. Go straight for 2 miles until your facing the firehouse at a stop sign. Make left onto Commerce st. At next traffic light make right onto Veterans Rd. Medical and Dental Building on left hand side, Building B, Suite 9.

From Route 202E: take route 202 East to triangle intersection. Go straight to the next traffic light. At that light, make left onto Veterans Rd. Medical and Dental Building on left hand side, Building B, Suite 9.

Richard Rifkin, DMD
Dr. Rifkin is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He has taken numerous continuing education courses including Implant Dentistry. He is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and has studied at the Pankey Institute.
James Martyniak, DDS
Dr. Martyniak is a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dentistry. A fellow of the AGD, Dr. Martyniak is also member of the American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
